About the clinic

Dr. Vilkoite’s Digestive Health Clinic is open on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Dr. Vilkoite’s Digestive Health Clinic is located at 118 Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, across from the Banku College and near the Skanste neighborhood. The entrance to the clinic is on the first floor, facing K. Valdemāra Street.

The clinic is easily accessible by both public and private transportation.
You can easily reach the clinic by taking trolleybus No. 3 (a 3-minute walk from the clinic on Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street to the “Ierēdņu iela” stop) and tram No. 11 (a 7-minute walk from the clinic on Miera Street is the “Brasas stacija” tram stop).

Yes, for the convenience of our patients, there is a EuroPark parking lot located at the clinic entrance, where we offer free parking for up to 2 hours to clinic patients who provide their license plate number at the clinic reception desk.

Dr. Vilkoite’s Digestive Health Clinic provides an accessible environment for all our patients and visitors.
People using wheelchairs and parents with strollers can also move around the clinic’s interior with ease—all of the clinic’s entrance and exit doors are threshold-free and are at the same level as the common areas and hallway. The clinic also has restrooms adapted for use by people with mobility impairments.
People with limited mobility can access the clinic’s premises using a ramp at the building’s main entrance on the K. Valdemāra Street side.
The clinic’s internal navigation system is also available in Braille.

• On the day before the examination, patients may eat easily digestible foods, preferably by 6:00 p.m. After that, only clear, transparent liquids are allowed.
• Regularly taken medications should be taken no later than 6 hours before the examination, with a small sip of water.
• Fluid intake must also be stopped two hours before the examination.
• Consult your family doctor or cardiologist regarding the discontinuation of blood-thinning medications.

The day before a colonoscopy, bowel preparation is performed using special medications prescribed by your doctor. A well-cleansed bowel is essential for a high-quality examination and an accurate diagnosis.

Recommendations during bowel preparation:

• Drink the solution slowly, in small sips, following the schedule prescribed by your doctor.
• To reduce the unpleasant taste, you may use a straw or drink the solution very cold.
• If necessary, you may use fresh lemon juice to improve the taste.
• If you experience discomfort or nausea, stop drinking for 20–30 minutes.
• If necessary, consult your doctor or nurse.

Before the procedure

• A colonoscopy is performed under short-term anesthesia to ensure complete comfort.
• You must not drive for 12 hours after the procedure, so it is recommended that a family member or friend accompany you.
• You must bring a referral from your family doctor or specialist, as well as a valid ID (passport or ID card).
• Do not eat solid food or drink colored liquids (juices, coffee with milk, etc.) before the examination.

When coming to the clinic, wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Leave jewelry, watches, and other valuables at home. You may bring personal hygiene items and wet wipes. Arrive at the clinic at the scheduled time to allow sufficient time for registration and preparation.
